Founded in 1966, the non-profit Fayerweather Craft Guild is a 501-c-3 organization dedicated to preserving traditional crafts and promoting new ones. Its goal is “to improve the technical skill and aesthetic values in the decorative arts, and to encourage an interchange of ideas among craftsmen.”

Today, as it has done for more than 50 years, the guild offers hand-made gifts for sale from April through Christmas Eve. There's something for everyone, including pets – and during your visit you can learn about the Fayerweather family of Kingston from historic documents, artifacts, and detailed narratives. Our volunteer staff is comprised of the very artisans who produce the items displayed for sale.

In keeping with our mission to preserve and share the decorative arts, throughout the year we offer free demonstrations, hands-on workshops, and craft events designed for both adults and children. Fayerweather traditions include annual events such as our Jonnycake Festival in the spring, a Strawberry Festival in June, a Blueberry Festival in July, and a Halloween kids craft day in October. The first weekend in November is our ever-popular Early Holiday Shopping festival featuring photos with Santa. Our annual Holiday Fair occurs on the first weekend in December, held in conjunction with the Kingston Village Holiday Fair.Visitors will find gifts for all occasions created by local artisans – from time-honored crafts in classic form to artfully adapted variations for the tech-savvy fashionista. Our “Christmas Corner” and a section with items on a Rhode Island theme are on display from April through December.

We accept cash, checks and credit cards. And last, but not least, most of the items you purchase at Fayerweather House are tax-free, because they are hand-crafted art – exceptions are candles, soaps, and books.
